Walk through a stunning autumn landscape and observe the changes in nature’s color palette around you. Reach the base of the peak, catch your breath, and begin the ascent. You did it! Marvel at the view around you and let your mind unwind. It’s time to head back. Sit with your fellow travelers and enjoy a delicious picnic in the great outdoors!

Mountain Paiko is a small mountain range that lies on the border of the Pella and Kilkis regional units in Central Macedonia, Greece. The flora consists of approximately 2,500 plant species. The trees that cover Mount Paiko are primarily chestnut trees, oaks, pines, oaks, cedars, mulberries, firs, and walnut trees. Mount Paiko is home to one of the largest chestnut forests in Greece, covering an area of around 4,500 acres.
The name of the peak Gola Tsouka comes from the Slavic word ‘gola,’ which means bare or bald, as there are no trees on the summit.
We depart at 07:30 from Aristotelous Square, heading to the Kastaneri village.
We reach a little further outside the village of Kastaneris and begin our hike.
We start our hike, initially on a forest road, and then we move through a beautiful forest until we reach the base of the peak. From there, we’ll carefully ascend the final stretch to reach the summit (1650m) with its distinctive metal mountaineer statue. The view is magical in all directions. Afterward, we’ll return on the same path, admiring all the autumn colors of the forest.
Then, we will relax at a very beautiful spot and savor a delicious picnic in the tranquility of the mountain.
Having filled our minds with beautiful images from this day trip to Mount Paiko, we will depart for Thessaloniki in the afternoon.
