The Pozar Baths, are one of the most well-known tourist destinations in Northern Greece. It is an area with hot mineral springs, from which therapeutic healing waters at a temperature of 37°C gush out. They offer a unique experience of rejuvenation and relaxation. They are located in a beautiful natural environment that offers many alternative activities such as hiking, climbing, wine tasting, etc.
The name Pozar, derives from the Slavic dialect and means fire, warmth. During antiquity, Macedonian kings and generals used to visit the area after battles and prolonged wars, in order to relax.
We depart from Thessaloniki at 08:00 heading to the village of Ano Loutraki.
The circular hiking trail commences from Ano Loutraki and has a total duration of roughly 1.30 hours. We will be visiting the 12-meter-tall Kounoupitsa Waterfall, where we will take a plunge into the cool waters. There, we will enjoy a cup of coffee and unwind
Next, we’ll head to a breathtaking viewpoint that offers uninterrupted views of the nearby mountains and the Ramno Bor gorge.
Then, we’ll make our way to the Pozar Thermal Springs, where we’ll have the chance to take a refreshing swim in one of the outdoor pools.
After our relaxing swim, we will wander through the area where small shops are located, offering exceptional local products. These quaint shops showcase a wide range of outstanding local products, including handicrafts, traditional goods, and unique souvenirs.
Our next destination is a small, family-run winery where you’ll get a tour and enjoy a wine tasting with some delectable accompaniments.
