The Skra Blue Lagoon is located on the northeast slopes of Mount Paiko, at an altitude of approximately 500 meters and just 4 kilometers away from the historic village of Skra, in the municipality of Paionia. The lagoon has a depth of up to four meters and the waterfalls formed there are fed by a network of streams that originate from Mount Paiko. It was named after the fossilized organisms found on its bottom.
The scenery alone is breathtaking and visitors are left wondering if it is a magical image or not, while the most romantic and those who love fairytales search for the nymphs that may be hidden there.
We depart from Thessaloniki at 08:00 heading to the Skra Blue Lagoon parking area.
We arrive at the beginning of the path and start our small hike through a lush environment with beautiful streams and images straight out of a fairy tale. Hidden there is the Skra Blue Lagoon, where we will swim in its cold emerald waters and savor a cup of cofee. Then, we will be led a little further and admire the nearby waterfalls and their small caves.
Then, we’ll make our way to a cozy, family-operated winery in the vicinity of the village of Goumenissa, where we’ll be given a tour of the charming premises.
Following that, we will wander down to a magical setting encircled by running waters and trees, where we will unwind with a picnic of Greek delicacies..
After filling ourselves with beautiful images and experiences from this day trip to Skra Blue Lagoon, we depart in the afternoon for Thessaloniki.
